Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown is officially available today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The survival strategy game places players in the captain's chair of the USS Voyager, tasked with managing the ship's crew, resources, and critical decisions as it navigates the Delta Quadrant — cut off from Starfleet and 70,000 light-years from home.

Unlike action-focused Star Trek games of the past, Across the Unknown leans into the show's core tensions: dwindling supplies, crew morale, alien diplomacy, and the agonizing tradeoffs of a ship that can't afford to lose. The development team has cited FTL: Faster Than Light and Subnautica as inspirations for the gameplay loop.

The game launches to notably positive early reviews, with critics highlighting the authenticity of the ship management systems and the quality of the branching narrative, which draws on storylines from across all seven seasons of the original series. Trekkies will find deep Easter eggs and callbacks throughout.

The Switch 2 version in particular has drawn attention — this is one of the first major multi-platform releases to showcase the console's expanded RAM and improved docking performance, with reviewers noting the handheld experience is surprisingly close to the console versions. Nintendo's first full year with Switch 2 is shaping up as a significant step forward for third-party parity. For more on what's releasing this month, see our full 2026 gaming landscape preview.
